Raised in Berkeley and recently back from Los Angeles, vocalist Destani Wolf is a distinctively soulful singer who instills a deep feel for the blues into every song she sings, from contemporary R&B to timeless jazz standards. For this night, Wolf returns to perform a mix of classic holiday songs and funky soul, adding her signature touch to it all in a program sure to get you into the holiday spirit. Both a gifted interpreter of the Great American Songbook as well as a self-assured songwriter, Wolf has lent her voice to the music of John Santos, the Pharcyde, and a cappella supergroup SoVoSó. She recorded her debut EP, Peek Away, in 2014 and her latest single, “Love Me Gently,” is an electronica-tinged release produced by Headnodic of the acclaimed Oakland hip-hop unit Crown City Rockers.
Really enjoyed seeing you at Oakland museum Friday night. And glad that you had a few cds. Played Peek Away when I got home and then played it again. I’d like a few more for Christmas gifts and to know when you are singing in the bay area.
Thanks so much. Hope you can make it to this December 1st show in SF!
